Where is the safest place for a woman to travel alone?
Travelling alone can initially be a daughting thought however it's the chance to finally do what the heck you like! A'men to that.
When thinking of where to travel alone as a female you do need to consider safety before anything else. Perhaps one day we won't need to be so careful in our choices but until then it is best to be safe and not sorry by doing plenty of research!
In this blog we delve into some unique destinations which have been ranked as some of the safest places to travel. Have your swimwear at the ready!
1 - Finland:
Known for its breathtaking scenery and home to good old Santa Claus this little escape to a chillier climate might just be what you need to relax and unwind during the winter months.
Explore the cutest of wooden towns such as Käpylä and Vallila, hike up over 40 national parks surrounding lakes, forests and the country's islands and take in the worlds healthiest air according to the World Health Organisation. Something a little different from your usual bikini destination!
With very low crime rates Finland is ranked to be one of the safest countries to visit. Be generally vigilant at night and avoid poorly lit streets otherwise you should feel comfortable travelling alone in Finland.
2 - Canada:
A country that promotes peacekeeping, diplomacy and tolerance for everyone Canada is great choice to go backpacking.
Canada really does have it all. Depending on the time of year you visit you can see pretty much all seasons and all terrains. You can get some good use out of your bikini in the Summer along Parlee Beach or hit the slopes and chuck on your finest spa swimsuit at some of the famous ski resorts (Whistler, Banff, Big White)
Safety rankings are very low across the entirety of Canada including big cities so why not pack for a month and set your sights for some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
3 - Switzerland:
Another home to insane scenery is the country of Switzerland. Known for the magnificent mountains, luscious lakes and striking lake-side medieval towns.
Be sure to visit top destinations such as Rhine Falls, the most powerful waterfall in Europe great for taking a Insta moment in your new swimwear. The largest town in Switzerland, Zurich reflecting pre-medieval times and the old timber houses in Interlaken and Lake Geneva for its cobbled old town filled with luxury shops and boutique restaurants.
In line with the other countries mentioned above Switzerland is a very safe option for women looking to travel solo.
4 - Spain:
We had to include one for the beach babe. Bikini friendly Spain is the perfect easy escape for those on a budget looking for fuss free safe travel. Easy to get around, put your spanish skills to the test by backpacking along the coastline of Northern or Eastern Spain for some of the best beaches to get your tan on in your itsy bitsy bikini.
Although rated low for safety beware of pickpockets in touristic towns such as Barcelona and be savvy with where you keep your cash and mobile on you. Avoid certain types of easy access bags.
